After a four-year absence, we were delighted to fully reinstate our annual Christmas Bazaar. Traditionally this fundraising event has been strongly supported by the Ilkeston and Erewash public and this year's occasion continued in that vein. Although the venue had to change due to new clinical services being introduced at ICH, the transfer to a smaller space in Charnos Hall did not adversely affect attendance. We are grateful to our friends at Ilkeston Town Supporters Club for giving up a significant part of their Friday evening to help set up.
Santa Claus distributed presents to more than 100 children and everyone was entertained by seasonal songs sung by The Trent Valley Voices and children from Ladywood School, Kirk Hallam. We extend our sincerest thanks to both choirs.
The League's customary cake, tombola, craft items, donated goods sale, and raffle were again offered successfully. Additionally, we introduced members of Ikeston's Creative Hive to the event who showcased a variety of high-quality locally crafted gifts.
Activities in Charnos Hall were extended to include a children's activity area in the hospital reception. Here, letters could be sent to Santa, tree decorations were made along with favourites such as face painting, sketch portraits, Christmas tattoos and various takeaway items.
Many thanks to all who participated. We wish everyone the very best seasonal wishes.
