Saturday 20th April saw us undertake the first fundraising event of the year, the annual, traditional Bed Push. The League established its usual base on the Ilkeston marketplace, marking the finishing point for teams who had pushed a hospital bed up Bath Street hill, from Wilton Place, collecting money on the way. The participant teams each contributed significantly to a record on-the-day total.
We are always grateful for the giving nature of the Ilkeston public, the value of donations received whilst holding this event highlights the generosity that we always experience when the opportunity is given to support their local hospital. League of Friends volunteers contributed notably through the Tombola and a silent auction.
This occasion has been enhanced this year with the sponsorship of Ron Brooks Toyota. We are grateful for the support, both financially and practically.
Further special thanks go out to participating teams, Zest Fitness Academy, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, Ron Brooks and The Bedpan Pushers, the hospital team.
