Santa Claus Visits Ilkeston
To the obvious delight of Ilkeston's youngsters, Coppice Steam brought Santa Claus to Ilkeston. The Group escorted him throughout the Town over a five-evening period when he greeted children from his specially prepared sleigh. The event has been re-established following a three-year hiatus. While the children wondered at the sight of Santa in the sleigh, complete with carols and entourage, relatives and friends kindly donated to the group, who, in turn, gifted £1531 to The League of Friends.
It is through donations such as this that the League can continue to support Ilkeston's hospital. Our volunteers extend their appreciation to the Coppice Steam team, Clive Smedley (Santa), Alan King (Driver), Allan Smedley (Reindeer), Gavin Parish(Snowman), Keyon Bonser (Snowma), Michelle Mallard (Facebook), together with Edward and Liam Cresswell who provided traffic control and emergency cover. They are seen here presenting a cheque to some of the League's volunteers.
