This new centre, one of 40 being introduced into English Community Hospitals will bring new and improved facilities, bringing access to state-of-the-art diagnostic testing and Point of Care testing to Ilkeston.
The facilities include improved Phlebotomy services and X-ray machines together with a new, dedicated scanning suite that will re-house the Val Jackson scanner already on site. This new area will benefit from the introduction of the first Open MRI scanner in Derbyshire. This machine will provide a broader service to those patients having accessibility problems. The improvements will be completed with the expansion of Ultrasound Testing facilities within a newly built area.
With the introduction of these diagnostic facilities, the hospital will be able to provide a more convenient and personalised service.
