New surgical equipment for the Diagnostic Treatment Centre

League members have been introduced to our latest investment in the Diagnostic Treatment Centre. We have fully funded the purchase of a £27,500 Surgical Camera Stack System. This equipment used in orthopaedic procedures for knee, ankle and shoulder surgery, significantly improves the visual field for surgeons using state-of-the-art camera technology and the latest digital software.

The resulting excellent image enhancement, allows surgeons to precisely target the areas of tissue that need to be repaired or removed, both soft tissue and bone. This technology uses a camera inserted into the joint through a very small incision so avoids the need for "open" surgery. The stack also enables video recording of procedures.

The improved technology aids in the best available surgical outcomes for patients and is expected to be introduced in late Spring 2014.
